“Willy” is an intimate documentary that explores tradition, family, and migration through the eyes of Filipino janitor Willy Lopez. A loving husband and father, Willy left the small town of Sariaya in the Philippines with his wife Tita to build a new life in Austria, hoping to secure a better future for their family. Decades later, their daughter Jade becomes the first Filipino lawyer in Austria, supporting fellow Filipinos as they navigate their own immigration journeys.
Framed against the wider reality of millions of overseas Filipino workers, the film reflects on sacrifice, resilience, and the quiet dignity of those who leave home to provide for the people they love.
