WILLY
An intimate portrait documentary about tradition, family and immigration through the eyes of Filipino janitor Willy Lopez— the man who has cleaned the halls of the SAE Institute in Vienna for the last 27 years.
A loving husband and hardworking father, Willy and his wife Tita made the greatest sacrifice when they left their smalltown tropical province of Sariaya, Philippines to move to Austria in pursuit of a better future for their family. Thirty years later, their daughter Jade has graduated and is now practicing as an attorney in law in Vienna, assisting fellow Filipinos in Austria.
This story is not unlike others who have migrated from the Philippines to work overseas. At this moment, 12 million Filipinos are working abroad and have left their precious loved ones to be able to financially support the very people they were leaving, even if it meant dealing with loneliness and isolation.
